Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is reportedly being considered as Gaza’s interim governor under Donald Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan between Israel and the Palestinian territories. However, a senior Hamas official has already rejected the idea, making it clear that Blair’s participation would not be welcomed.
Meanwhile, pundit and commentator Stephen A. Smith suggested that Marco Rubio could eclipse JD Vance as the leading Republican contender for the 2028 presidential election—but only if Trump’s Middle East deal holds.
Speaking on his SiriusXM podcast this week, Smith praised Rubio’s record, saying the former senator and current Secretary of State and National Security Adviser “gets things done.”
“If this Israel-Hamas deal turns out to be more successful than anyone expects, no one will be able to compete with Marco Rubio — whom Trump has called possibly the greatest Secretary of State in American history. Marco Rubio gets things done. He’s no joke.”
Smith’s remarks reflect a growing view among commentators that Rubio’s expanding foreign-policy profile could reshape the Republican field heading into 2028, particularly if the Trump-brokered Middle East accord produces tangible results.
