A New South Wales court has revealed disturbing footage of Daniel Billings, who murdered his former partner Molly Ticehurst in April 2024. The video, shown during Billings' sentencing hearing in Orange, depicted him driving away from Ticehurst's home shortly after the murder. Billings, 31, pleaded guilty to the frenzied stabbing of 28-year-old Ticehurst, an act that has sparked national outrage against domestic and gendered violence.

In the video, Billings raised a bloodied hand to his face and stated, "I can't believe I just did that." Gasps filled the courtroom as the footage played, showing him driving through dark streets in Forbes. Additional videos presented in court displayed Billings in distress, smoking, and expressing anger while making claims of being wrongfully accused of sexual assault.

The attack occurred after Billings had threatened Ticehurst multiple times in the weeks leading up to her death. He had been charged with several counts of sexual assault and domestic violence offenses prior to the murder, following a police statement made by Ticehurst just two weeks before her death. Despite police opposition, a local court registrar granted him conditional bail.

During the hearing, victim impact statements were delivered by Ticehurst's family. Her father, Tony Ticehurst, described his daughter as loving and his best friend, expressing profound grief over her loss. He addressed Billings directly, expressing his hope that Ticehurst's screams would haunt him forever. Molly's mother, Kate, also shared her heartbreak, stating that Molly was her only child and best friend. Billings, dressed in a black suit and sneakers, listened to the proceedings with his head bowed.
