Nepal's official death toll from the flash floods that struck on Wednesday has risen to 626, while Chinese authorities report seven fatalities in Tibet, according to state Xinhua news agency. The floods have left 2,478 individuals unaccounted for, with 1,924 missing in Nepal and 554 in Tibet. Rescue operations have successfully saved over 3,700 people, but an estimated 93,000 individuals have been affected by the disaster. Among the missing are scores of Hindu pilgrims traveling to Mount Kailash. A Chinese rescue team discovered extensive destruction at the Gyirong border crossing, where more than 550 individuals remain unaccounted for in Tibet. Nepal's foreign minister has indicated the need for international assistance in the rescue efforts, including specialized help for tunnel rescues and the identification of bodies. The number of missing Australians has increased to 41, with one family relieved after a previously unaccounted woman made contact.
